New Seamless Gutter Installation

5K Seamless aluminum gutters are custom made to fit each gutter run. Each gutter section is placed on fascia extending approximately ½ inch to 1 inch past roof shingles. Every effort is made to place the high side of the gutter (away from downspout) at a level of approximately ¼ inch below the extended roof line. The Gutter section should drop from high end to low end 1 inch every 16 feet (you can find more info on this in the Berger Product Catalog.) Not all fascias are the same and buildings settle differently over time. We use torpedo levels throughout gutter section to ensure continuous pitch from the high end to the low end (downspout location).

Removal of Old Gutters and Installation of New Seamless Gutters

Existing Gutters, or Old Gutters, are removed from the building fascia. Screw or spike holes from the previous gutters are filled with silicone as needed. New seamless gutters are installed as stated in New Install. Home owner will be responsible for the disposal of vinyl gutters.

Gutter Cleaning

Home Gutter Maintenance is a necessary and vital part of increasing the longevity and durability of your investment. A minimum of one annual cleaning is essential to increasing the lifespan of your gutters. Just one leaf in your gutter that covers the downspout outlet can cause the gutter to not function properly. In this instance the water will be unable to drain and will eventually overflow the top of the gutter. Over time more debris will collect in your gutter. Debris in gutters can include but is not limited to; leaves, sticks, dirt, roof shingle wear, and animal nests. If the debris is not removed before winter the wet debris will become increasing heavy with ice buildup. This can overload the screws or fascia causing the gutter to pull away from the fascia or fall off your house. A major concern is seeds from trees which mix with dirt, leaves, and standing water. Before you know it you have a roof side plant bed. That can take a couple years to build up, but gutters are more difficult to clean and more damage can happen the longer you wait.

Open gutters, or gutters with no leaf covers, are cleaned out by removing debris from gutters and downspouts. Gutters are then sprayed out using garden hose form Home Owner’s outside water faucet.

There are many different types of leaf cover systems and as a result, different and unique approaches are used to clean out those many systems. As a general rule covers will need to be removed during cleaning and inspection. Debris will be removed from gutters and downspouts and sprayed out with home owner outside water faucet.

Cleaning and inspection of the Leaf Relief system manufactured by PlyGem, is the simplest and least expensive overall. This leaf cover gutter system is completely enclosed, including the end caps, which prevents bird and other animals from building nest in the gutters. Installation of Seamless Gutters with Leaf Relief (Gutter Warrior)

This is the most durable and structurally sound system to install. The Gutter Warrior cover acts as both the leaf cover and hanger. This makes the gutter system a four sided box unit giving the gutter increased strength. The cover is run the entire length of the gutter and around inside or outside corners completely encapsulating the gutter. Having this system prevents most leaves and debris from getting into the gutter. The Leaf Relief cover has 489 perforations every 20 inches, and can handle 29.7 inches of rainwater per hour. Nature provides most of the cleaning; dry leaves require 6 mph wind, wet debris requires 23 mph winds. This system also prevents birds or animals from building nests in open spaces on the end caps. See the PlyGem web site http://gutters.plygem.com/ for a description of product by the manufacturer.

Installation of Retro Fit Leaf Relief Covers Onto Existing Gutters

There are two types of retro fit covers that can be used on most gutters. The first is the Classic and can be used on gutters with spikes or flat hangers. The second is the Zip and can be used on most modern gutters with Hidden Hangers, using screws. Both of these covers are installed using a hex screw that goes through the front lip of the leaf cover into the top front edge of gutter.
